International Women’s Day City Breakfast 2009 to raise funds for Refuge

The Day
International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world. The occasion is marked annually in the City of London where we use the opportunity to acknowledge women’s success and contribution to the workplace and to society. International Women’s Day (IWD) has been observed since the early 1900′s. It is now an official holiday in over 14 countries.
The Event
The City of London Corporation is hosting a champagne breakfast at the Great Hall, in the Guildhall on Friday 6 March 2009 from 8.00 am for 9.00 am – 10.45 am.
Bringing together 350 women and men from across the City, this prestigious event will offer excellent opportunities for meeting and exchanging ideas and experiences.
The Speakers
This year’s invited Chair is Miss Ruby Wax. Miss Wax, a supporter of Refuge, will be joined by prominent and high profile guest speakers, including:
* Gay Huey-Evans, Manager of Operations for Barclays Capital, Barclays Global Investors and Barclays Wealth
* Susan S. Kilsby, Managing Director in the Investment Banking division of Credit Suisse
Attendees will hear from our speakers on the part they have played within their respective organisations and their journey to success including some of the personal challenges they have each faced along the way.
Sponsorship funds raised will go directly to Refuge – the national domestic violence charity. Every day Refuge supports over 1,000 women and children through emergency accommodation, practical and emotional support and community based outreach services.
