International Women’s Day 2009

Celebrate International Women’s Day – Civic Lunch – Bradford

The Lady Mayoress of Bradford will be celebrating International Women’s Day with a civic lunch.

Lady Mayoress Colleen Middleton will be hosting the lunch at the Great Victoria Hotel, Bradford on Friday 6 March at 12pm. Speakers at the lunch will include two of the ‘Calendar Girls’, Angela Baker (Miss February) and Ros Fawcett (Miss November). The idea behind the original calendar was to raise funds for the local hospice following the death of Angela’s husband John from leukaemia.

Since the calendar there has been a Hollywood film and stage show based on the events and a great deal of money has been raised for Leukaemia Research.

The tickets for the lunch cost £20 and all proceeds will go to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal for the Bradford branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Lady Mayoress Colleen Middleton said: “This lunch will give women from across the city and district the opportunity to take part in what is now a global celebration for the achievements of women.”
