International Women’s Day 2009

Girls’ World – YWCA Scotland – Celebrating International Women’s Day

YWCA Scotland is organising a fun-filled International Women’s Day celebration for girls and young women between the ages of 11 and 18.

Saturday 14th March 2009 from 10am to 4pm
St. Thomas of Aquins School, Edinburgh

What is it? A fun day with the aim of creating a new country by designing various elements of that country’s identity and culture through exciting and creative workshops.

What will I be doing? You will start by taking part in “taster” sessions of drama and song, arts and crafts, and dance before choosing one of these to focus on to develop the traditions, culture and identity of your collectively developed country. Creating your very own Girl’s World complete with your very own Girl’s World national song, dance, heroine, costume, flag…! A nice feast will be provided to keep up the energy stores and all this will be followed with a grand finale showcase of the day’s creations.

Why? To have fun; be creative; hands-on learning about values, identity, culture; celebrate being a young woman; feel good about yourself; make new friends…

How do I sign Up? To book a place contact Joan Bree at YWCA Scotland – phone 0131 225 7592 and we will send you a booking form.

We hope to see you all there to join in the festivities!
