Derby City’s Event To Mark International Women’s Day
A free day-long event to mark International Women’s Day is being held in Derby on Saturday 7 March with the theme of ‘Women Around The World’.
The event, being held between 10am and 4pm at The Spot in Sacheveral Street, is being staged by the City Council in partnership with a number of local organisations.
Key speakers will be the Mayor of Derby, Councillor Barbara Jackson, the Rt Hon Margaret Beckett MP and Julie Acred, chief executive of Derby Hospitals NHS Trust.
The programme of events includes career booster sessions to help improve confidence, advice and support on issues facing women and girls, and information about education and training opportunities. Entertainment will include cheerleading, school dance troupes, Asian dancing and hip hop.
Small children will be entertained with face paining, a bouncy castle and other play activities.
